For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

In stead of spending all these millions in Lybia, we should be helping the Japanese in their rebuilding effort. Less sexy but so much more useful.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

So you don't care about basic human rights or about preventing or ending atrocities against humanity.Originally posted by Arrian View PostAmusing, given that you've lined up in favor of yet another adventure in regime change.

Then the Arab League has schiznophrenia. Didn't the Arab League ask for Western countries to intervene?Originally posted by Asher View PostSeems the US/Britain/France have angered the Arab League now with their bombardment. Couldn't see that one coming.

I don't think you're fully aware of the situation in Libya, MrFun.
It's not as simple as 'Ghadaffi = bad, Rebels = good'. It's highly likely the rebels will be just as bad, perhaps worse. You're getting involved in a civil war / tribal war that does not concern you.
They asked for a no-fly zone only. They did not ask for the allies to shell and bomb Libya.Originally posted by MrFun View PostThen the Arab League has schiznophrenia. I understand the risk that some of the rebels may have ties to Al-Qaeda.
**** - if we only intervened in conflicts that we know will have zero risks for us, we would never intervene then in the interest of freedom, human rights, or to combat human atrocities.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Most of the time the US "intervenes" under the guise of "freedom, human rights, or to combat human atrocities" it's really about protecting national interests at the expense of other countries.
Many countries consider the US' use of drones to kill hundreds of civilians in Pakistan to be a violation of human rights and an example of human atrocities. You don't seem to bat an eye."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Oil interests is the major motivating factor when the U.S. intervenes in Iraq or other countries. But if the result is the overthrow of a dictator, so be it.Originally posted by Asher View PostHave you been paying attention?

Unless drones can be used more effectively to minimize civilian casualties, I oppose using them.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Based on the above, you were an ethusiastic supporter of Iraq War II, right?Originally posted by MrFun View PostOil interests is the major motivating factor when the U.S. intervenes in Iraq or other countries. But if the result is the overthrow of a dictator, so be it.

I was not an enthusiastic supporter for the reasons for Iraq War II. I do favor the desired result of that war though.Originally posted by Arrian View PostBased on the above, you were an ethusiastic supporter of Iraq War II, right?
